Chapter 276 Potions Class Rewards
Chapter 276 Potions Class Rewards
As the meal was coming to an end, Headmaster Dumbledore stepped to the stage to give a speech.
But when he raised his hand, everyone noticed the abnormality of his right hand, which was charred and dry, like a branch that had been burnt by fire.
Suddenly everyone started talking.
The same thing happened at the Slytherin table. Zabini turned to look at Draco. "What happened to his hand?"
Draco shook his head, "I don't know. I just met him today."
Her inquiring gaze fell on Gloria, and she said, "It could be some kind of illness."
Not knowing the reason, Zabini simply continued to listen to the principal's speech.
At this time, Dumbledore began to introduce Professor Slughorn. "This year we have a new teacher, Professor Slughorn. He used to work at Hogwarts and had retired. At my invitation, he decided to come back to teach during the summer vacation. This year, he will be your Potions teacher."
The discussion at the table got louder, and someone asked, "What about Professor Snape?"
"He is still sitting at the staff table, which means he has not resigned."
"Is he still our headmaster? I heard that Professor Slughorn used to be the headmaster of Slytherin."
Although Professor Snape looked scary with a gloomy face all day long, he had made great achievements in potions, and Dumbledore was unlikely to let him go.
Headmaster Dumbledore quickly answered their questions, "As for the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, it will be Professor Snape."
"No!" Harry shouted so loudly that everyone looked in that direction.
The Slytherin table had already started applauding, but Professor Snape at the staff table did not stand up, his face showing a hint of smugness.
Gloria saw Harry's disbelief and anger, after all, he really loved this course.
Now that he thought he couldn't continue with the advanced classes in Potions and didn't have to face Professor Snape, he ended up having to see the professor in Defense Against the Dark Arts class again.
"Did you know this already?" Draco asked.
Gloria had been silent just now, and she didn't show any surprise when she heard the announcement.
"Yes, I knew it last year," Gloria said, "but the headmaster was not sure whether he could invite Professor Slughorn back at that time."
On the stage, Headmaster Dumbledore was still telling everyone to be careful, because there were Death Eaters running rampant outside.
As the speech ended, the students pushed aside the benches and walked towards their respective dormitories.

By the time I reached sixth grade, I was able to adapt to school life quickly.
The first class in the morning was the runes elective. Sitting in the classroom, Draco looked at the schedule and said, "The courses look less crowded this year."
Last year's classes were so packed and there was that awful Umbridge, this year feels much better.
“I heard there are fewer classes, but the homework is more than twice as much as before,” Gloria said. “Be prepared to spend the rest of the time doing homework.”
Draco sighed and put away his timetable.
Starting from the sixth grade, students from four colleges attended classes together, and Gloria found that there were fewer people in the classroom.
The course content was more advanced, but she was already proficient in runes, so sitting here was more like reviewing than studying.
Professor Barbling was ruthless and assigned a lot of homework. By the end of the first class, the students' faces were filled with fatigue.
Then came the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and Harry was nervous throughout it.
Today they learned silent spells. Ron's face turned red as he didn't cast a single spell. Professor Snape personally demonstrated silent spells on Harry.
Finally, Harry was given detention.
There was only one Potions class in the afternoon. Among the sixth-year Slytherins, including Gloria, only five students were admitted to the advanced class, and that was under the premise that Professor Slughorn lowered the requirements.
When I arrived at the classroom early, Professor Slughorn was already there.
There were three conspicuous crucibles on the table, each with mist of different colors floating around.
"Oh - you're early!" Slughorn greeted them.
Gloria walked closer and stared at the cauldron. Seeing this, Slughorn explained, "I prepared three pots of potion specially. I will ask questions in class later."
Draco was close to one of the cauldrons and smelled the odor wafting out, and quickly blushed.
Professor Slughorn probably couldn't help himself, and asked with a smile on his face, "It seems that Draco has smelled a scent he likes. Do you know what potion this is?"
The boy blushed and nodded, "Love potion."
"That's right!" Slughorn said with a smile. "How about guessing the other two?"
Draco sniffed it, observed the color of the potion and the floating mist, and said accurately: "Truth Serum, and Polyjuice Potion."
Slughorn said with satisfaction: "Your Potions grades are indeed good. Professor Snape specifically mentioned that you and Gloria are excellent. Although it is not time for class yet, I will still add 20 points to Slytherin House!"
Draco raised his head proudly and said, "Thank you for the compliment, Professor."
Gloria noticed the small cauldron on the podium, which was filled with mist. "Professor, did you prepare a potion?"
Slughorn simply led them to the podium, "Here's today's reward."
The golden liquid in the crucible surged, and she said, "The elixir of bliss, there aren't many rewards like this."
"Slytherin indeed." The professor said, "Twenty points more for Slytherin."
Gloria smiled but said nothing. This has nothing to do with her family. It is introduced in relevant books.
Draco inquired curiously, "This is the potion that brings good luck to people."
It was also the first time he had seen it, and there were very few such potions for sale outside.
Slughorn nodded and said, "Yes, whoever brews the most perfect potion today will get this reward."
Draco stood up straight immediately. He had read a lot of books on potions in the past few years, especially the notes that Gloria received from Professor Snape in her second year. He had read and memorized them all.
Sometimes they would experiment together to improve the subject. Of all the classes, Draco was best at Potions.
When it was time for class, Harry and Ron thought they would not be able to continue the course, but Professor Slughorn asked them to use old books first.
The two men fought over the cabinet for a while, and when the "battle" was over, Ron looked satisfied, and Harry patted his good brother heavily with the particularly worn book in his hand.
Professor Slughorn asked the usual questions about the potions in the three crucibles, and Hermione answered accurately, and the professor, who was good at winning over outstanding students, looked at her with shining eyes.
Then he started to prepare the potion that needed to be brewed today - the Living Hell Potion.
Gloria and Draco did not open the book, as they memorized the exact formula of the potion.
For more than an hour, they proceeded methodically, paying no attention to Professor Slughorn standing nearby.
"Time's up, everyone stop."
Hearing this, most students looked at their crucibles with disappointment.
Slughorn immediately walked over to Gloria, took a look at the color of the potion, stirred it again, and after smelling it, he exclaimed, "Perfect! There's not even a reference book. A lot of processes have been improved. You will definitely have a share of the Felicis."
Gloria turned her head and saw Draco staring into her eyes and smiling.
