Chapter 223 Desert Undead
Chapter 223 Desert Undead
In the heart of the vast desert, a group of skeleton soldiers wielding tattered weapons are tirelessly patrolling this place devoid of life. Due to its location in the heart of the desert and the harsh climate, even a trace of moisture cannot sustain life here. So, let alone an oasis, even a little bit of moisture is rare, let alone any life living here. But the undead are stubborn; they still adhere to the orders from their creator, completely unaware that their bodies and weapons are nearly decaying under the combined effects of wind, sand, and time.
Just as the undead were walking on the sandy land, a blue lightning bolt appeared and instantly annihilated them, turning them into dust. As the sandstorm subsided, Tiga's figure slowly emerged from the dust, followed by tens of thousands of neatly dressed lizardmen.
Tiga raised his weapon and shouted in a deep voice, "Master has ordered us to kill all these low-level undead. The master will personally deal with the high-level undead. We only need to deal with the minions." After saying that, Tiga walked forward on his own, and the lizardmen followed him excitedly to join the operation to kill the undead.
These nearly decaying undead were no match for the well-equipped lizardman army. The battlefield was almost entirely one-sided. The lizardmen slaughtered the undead without even wounding any, while the undead's high-level combatants seemed to be hiding like turtles, nowhere to be seen.
But that's not actually the case, because at this time the undead's advanced combat forces were busy dealing with another terrifying enemy, a terrifying being who knew them best and was once their most powerful.
Inside a structure several times larger than the Great Pyramid of Giza in the heart of the desert, Agred was surrounded by a group of liches, necromancers, and sorcerer spirits, while an ancient undead, dressed in gold and clearly of high status, looked down upon Agred from above.
The ancient undead, seated on its throne, asked, "Dragon, why have you disturbed our slumber? This place holds no value for you. You can leave now and I can pretend nothing happened."
Agred looked down at the undead beneath his feet and then shouted, "I happen to be short of a group of undead minions, and you seem to be just right. So, submit or be destroyed?"
At this moment, the undead could no longer suppress its rage and roared, "I, Alberto Monstan Rigrady Niel, as the last member of the Belimer royal family, the sole master of the Death Desert, and the last 'king' of the great ancient civilization! I will never submit to anyone, let alone a dragon that looks only the size of an adult. You have angered me now, and I have decided to sacrifice you to our god, making you nourish him and your corpse a dragon lich to serve my race for millions of years as punishment! Attack! Seize him!"
At Alberto's command, all the high-ranking undead around him immediately swarmed forward, each using their own methods to rush towards Agred. Agred merely smiled contemptuously at these undead skills that he had long since mastered. Then, a massive amount of soul power surged from his body, and in an instant, all the high-ranking undead were captured by this familiar power. Before they could even get close to Agred, they all slid in and knelt down in front of Agred.
Alberto, astonished by what he saw, asked, "That familiar soul power?! You...you're an undead?"
Agreed chuckled, "That was a side job a long time ago. I'm no longer an undead, but subduing you little guys is still more than enough. Surrender. You should know how powerless low-level undead are when facing high-level undead. It's a racial rule etched into your soul. You won't even have the thought of resisting, except to kneel down. Just look at them." As he spoke, Agreed pointed to the high-level undead kneeling around him.
But Alberto, despite being in dire straits, did not panic. Instead, he laughed loudly, "Hahaha, I never expected that fate would play such a huge joke on us, sending you to our doorstep. It's truly a stroke of luck!"
This time it was Agreed's turn to be surprised, so he asked curiously, "You seem quite confident. Do you have some hidden tricks up your sleeve?"
Alberto replied matter-of-factly, "Of course, my kind would love to hear a story, wouldn't they?"
Agreed nodded to signal him to continue, and Alberto began to speak at length.
"Around 100,000 years ago, this desert was not so barren. There were countless oases and rivers with abundant water and grass. My ancestors built an extremely powerful human civilization here, which reached its peak in my generation. We used water and slaves to build this miraculous Ebis Cone Tower."
Just when we thought our civilization would continue to prosper, those lowly people rebelled. However, our army quickly suppressed them. But it was during that battle that we accidentally discovered a ruin that recorded necromancy, and thus we realized a terrible problem: gods exist in this world! In their presence, our army, our technology, everything we have is meaningless, powerless, and laughable.
Thus our civilization began to become obsessed with necromancy, and a grand plan was born, which we call the 'God Creation Project'!
We have gathered the souls of everyone in this nation except myself to create a spirit that is almost divine. And I, as its guardian, have diligently cultivated and nurtured this nascent form of godhood for a hundred thousand years. Now, it is only one step away from being on par with the gods. Your arrival is the will of heaven! May you… become the nourishment for its ascension to godhood! Come forth, great Death God, Anubis!
As the story ended, a dark purple hand shattered the wall behind Alberto, instantly sucking the high-ranking undead around Alberto and Agred into its grasp. Upon seeing this, Agred teleported out of the cone-shaped tower, and then a huge humanoid creature burst through the tower, its body clad in golden armor and topped with the head of a real hound.
Seeing this, Agreed couldn't help but exclaim, "This appearance... you're the real kobold!"
Without a word, Anubis swung his scepter-like weapon at Agreed upon seeing him. Seeing the enemy's fierce attack, Agreed didn't give him any leeway and charged forward, transforming into a streak of light that instantly shattered Anubis's chest. However, after suffering a severe injury, Anubis turned around and looked at Agreed as if nothing had happened.
Just when Agreed thought he had no chance, Anubis suddenly began to change form! His body turned into golden dust, and in the blink of an eye, it decomposed and recombined into a golden eagle that burned like flames.
This is Anubis's strongest form, the sun god Ra. Anubis has a total of nine forms known as the "Nine Pillars," each representing one of the nine power systems: wind, thunder, fire, mountain, water, light, darkness, immense strength, and curse. Ra is the ultimate battle form that represents the power of light and combines the power of all the other pillars.
