Chapter 827 - 852: Competing for Favor and Suppressing (3)
Even if she didn’t look at her hand, there was no way she could carry these three shopping bags back by herself; Frank Holland would still have to help her.
So she didn’t need to be polite with him.
After all, she got injured while doing a good deed and returned his wallet.
The two of them didn’t know each other, so it was naturally a bit awkward walking together.
Especially—
Mia Ginger wasn’t someone who talked much.
Frank Holland wasn’t either; for the past few years, the only woman around him was Josephine Holland, and his work team was basically all men. He was so busy working all the time that he really didn’t have the time to date anyone.
He told Mia Ginger, "Girls should protect themselves when they’re outside. Take it easy with things like catching thieves."
"I thought you could have subdued him with just one hand." Mia Ginger chuckled.
Frank Holland didn’t mind, and smiled, "I did subdue him with one hand."
He carried the thief down the escalator with one hand.
Mia Ginger: "..."
This guy is just as bad at conversation as Brother Jackson; she couldn’t be bothered to argue with him.
Speak of the devil.
Just as she was lost in her thoughts, her phone rang in her pocket.
Mia Ginger took it out and, with her head lowered, answered, "Brother Jackson."
"Why aren’t you at home?" Koa Jackson immediately asked, with a hint of displeasure in his voice.
It was rare that there was no traffic on the road, so he got back ten or twenty minutes early. When he opened the door, well, not even a shadow of Mia Ginger could be seen.
"I’m outside." Mia Ginger was also a bit frustrated and said quietly, "I noticed there wasn’t much left at home, so I came out to the supermarket to buy some stuff. I’ll be back soon."
"Why didn’t you wait for me?"
"I wanted to surprise you with a cooked meal."
"There’s no surprise, just a bit of a shock," Koa Jackson snorted lightly, "Where are you? I’ll come pick you up."
"There’s a convenient clinic right across the neighborhood. You can come over." Mia Ginger’s voice got even smaller.
"Clinic?" Koa Jackson frowned, "Are you not feeling well?"
Mia Ginger awkwardly smiled, "I just got a cut while catching a thief."
Koa Jackson: "..."
After a moment, in a low tone, "Alright, I got it, I’m coming over right away."
"Okay." Mia Ginger breathed a sigh of relief and hung up the phone.
A few minutes later—
She and Frank Holland arrived at the clinic first.
The doctor was bending his head, wrapping a bandage for her, when Koa Jackson arrived.
Upon coming in and seeing her, his tightly furrowed brows hadn’t yet relaxed when he noticed Frank Holland standing next to her.
Especially—
As Mia Ginger pressed her lips, Frank was telling the doctor, "This young lady has delicate skin, please be gentle."
"The wound isn’t deep. It’s fine. Just be careful when doing things recently, don’t let this area get wet. Change the dressing once a day, and in about three to five days, it should gradually heal."
The doctor obviously misunderstood a bit, and just as Mia Ginger was about to speak, she spotted Koa Jackson from the corner of her eye.
Koa Jackson’s face still looked a bit grim.
She quickly called out, "Brother Jackson."
"Hmm." Koa Jackson came close, looked at her, and frowned, "How did this happen?"
"I just accidentally got a cut." Mia Ginger quickly said.
"The responsibility is mine." Frank Holland glanced at Koa Jackson and quickly followed, "If I had reacted faster, this accident wouldn’t have happened. It’s really awkward to let a young lady help me catch a thief. If you both don’t mind, I’d like to invite you to dinner as an apology and thanks."
Koa Jackson: "..."
Mia Ginger: "..."
The two of them exchanged a glance and simultaneously said, "There’s no need."
