Chapter 818 - 751: Moving Mountains (Part 2)
Scattered among the various shacks, with a few occasionally walking across the open ground.
Judging from the scale of the buildings and the pattern of activity, this tribe was slightly larger than the Strawberry Tribe, but overall strength wasn’t much different.
Three Level 2, over forty Level 1, and no Level 3 present.
After Duke finished scouting, he turned into a stream of sand, silently sliding down the hillside and closing in on the edge of the valley.
The tribe in the valley was peaceful, cooking smoke curling upward, with the occasional sound of children’s laughter drifting over.
Those Level 1 Ancient Fairies came in all shapes and forms: some looked like ripe berries, some like leafy roots, and a few had long, slender bodies like some kind of herb.
They wore crude clothing and held Magic Wands as they moved between the shacks.
Duke condensed his body behind a giant boulder at the foot of the hill, his gaze sweeping over the tribe below.
He raised his head and looked at the medium-sized hill not far away.
The mountain was made of hard rock, covered in dense vegetation, about a hundred meters high, with more than enough mass.
Duke lifted his right hand, fingers closing on empty air.
Level 2 Forbidden Magic, Moving Mountains.
The space around him suddenly solidified.
An invisible force spread out from his palm, like a gigantic hand, gripping the entire hill tight.
The mountain began to tremble.
At first it was just a faint shudder, with bits of gravel sliding down from the cracks between the rocks.
Next, the trembling intensified, ancient trees that had grown for centuries began to tilt, their root systems tearing out of the soil with agonized ripping sounds.
Cries of alarm rose from within the tribe.
The Ancient Fairies rushed out of the shacks, staring in horror at the hill slowly rising above their heads.
"What is that?!"
"The... the mountain is flying!"
"Enemy attack—!!"
Three powerful auras shot up into the sky from the center of the tribe—those three Level 2.
They leapt into midair, just in time to see the hundred-meter hill tear free from the ground and slowly move toward the tribe.
One of them, a tall male Fairy, let out an enraged roar and raised his Magic Wand; countless thick vines burst wildly from the ground, trying to prop up the mountain.
The other two Level 2 acted at the same time—one summoned a thick wooden barrier to shield the tribe, while the other condensed countless leaf-blades and slashed them at the mountain.
But the mountain was too heavy.
The vines snapped inch by inch the instant they touched the underside of the hill; the wooden barrier was like paper in front of the mass, and the leaf-blades only left shallow marks on the rock.
Standing in the distance, Duke suddenly pressed his right hand downward.
The hill crashed down.
BOOM——!!!
Heaven and earth trembled as the mountain smashed into the center of the tribe, completely burying that entire area.
The shockwave spread in all directions; countless shacks were blown apart, stones and splintered wood raining through the air.
Dust billowed upward, shrouding half the sky.
Out of the dust, three figures staggered out in disarray.
The three Level 2 were still alive, but in terrible shape.
The leading tall male was covered in blood, his left arm twisted at a grotesque angle; the female who’d summoned the barrier had blood at the corner of her mouth, her aura feeble.
The third was a withered old man, half his body cut open by flying stones, blood pouring nonstop.
They had forced themselves to hold up the mountain for those few breaths; although they’d let most of their clansmen escape the impact zone, they themselves had taken the brunt of the force.
"Everyone, run—!!" the tall male roared.
The Level 1 Fairies snapped out of their daze and scattered in panic.
But in the next instant, they stopped in their tracks.
All around, dark-gold sand walls rose from the ground like a ring of cages, sealing the entire valley tight.
The sand walls were dozens of meters high and frighteningly thick, with streams of sand constantly pouring down from the top, leaving nowhere to climb.
"Who are you——!!" the tall male bellowed, his gaze sweeping the surroundings.
Duke slowly walked out from behind the ruins of the hill.
Dark-gold sand currents circled around him. His eyes were calm as they swept over the three heavily injured Level 2, then over the terrified Level 1.
The tall male Fairy’s eyes flashed with fear, then turned to madness. "You’re alone? You’re courting death!"
He raised his Magic Wand, the power he had left surging out wildly as countless roots tore up from underground and thrust toward Duke.
Duke did not move.
The roots shattered inch by inch as they hit the sand wall three feet in front of him.
At the same time, Duke raised his left hand.
Countless Metallic Yellow Sand surged out of his body, gathering and taking shape behind him, one dark-gold Sand Servant after another was born.
Each one stood three meters tall, gripping Sand Blades and other Weapons, with earthy-yellow flames flickering in their eye sockets.
Ten, fifty, a hundred, two hundred, three hundred...
In just a few seconds, three hundred Sand Servants lined up in neat formation, like a legion crawling out of Hell.
The faces of those Level 1 Fairies completely changed.
The three hundred Sand Servants stepped forward in unison and charged at the Level 1 Fairies.
Shouts of killing, screams, and the clash of Magic erupted all at once.
Duke no longer looked that way; his gaze remained locked on the three Level 2s.
The tall male Fairy clenched his jaw. "Together, kill him!"
The three of them lunged at the same time.
The tall male Fairy rushed at the front, waving his Magic Wand. Countless thick vines grew madly from underground, like dozens of giant pythons coiling toward Duke.
The vines were covered in spikes, their tips glowing a ghostly blue, clearly laced with deadly poison.
The injured female Fairy fell back, forming seals with both hands. Dozens of massive leaves manifested around her.
The edges of those leaves were sharp as blades. They spun rapidly through the air, letting out shrill Breaking the Sky sounds as they slashed toward Duke from the side.
The gaunt old man circled behind Duke, slammed his Magic Wand heavily into the ground, and the soil under Duke’s feet suddenly softened, turning into a muddy swamp. Countless fine roots stretched out from the swamp, trying to entangle his feet.
They attacked from three directions, working together seamlessly.
Duke did not dodge.
At the instant the vines touched him, his body suddenly collapsed, turning into countless dark-gold grains of sand.
The vines lunged at nothing, tangling around each other into a knot. The leaf blades passed through the sand mist without even managing to shatter a single grain. The roots in the swamp writhed frantically, but caught nothing.
The sand mist regrouped in midair, and Duke’s figure appeared ten meters away.
"What?!" The tall male’s pupils contracted.
He had never seen an ability like this.
But he had no time to think, because the dark-gold sand was already surging toward him.
Duke raised his right hand. Innumerable streams of sand converged from all directions, forming dozens of sharp sand spears that shot toward the tall male.
The tall male roared, swept his Magic Wand across, and a thick wooden barrier rose before him.
The sand spears stabbed into the barrier, splinters flying.
But after piercing through the barrier, those sand spears did not dissipate. Instead, they continued forward, aimed straight at his vital points.
The tall male was shocked and dodged desperately.
Three sand spears grazed his body, leaving three deep wounds across him. Blood splattered.
"There’s something wrong with his sand!" he shouted hoarsely. "It can absorb Magic energy!"
The other two’s faces changed.
Their attacks just now had indeed lost part of their energy the moment they touched those grains of sand.
Duke didn’t give them time to react.
His figure collapsed again, turning into a sky-full of sand mist that swept toward the three.
Within the sand mist, countless tiny Sand Blades spun wildly, forming a death storm dozens of meters across.
The female Fairy gritted her teeth, pouring all her strength into raising an emerald-green barrier.
The Sand Blades slashed against the barrier, letting out harsh scraping sounds.
The barrier trembled violently, cracks beginning to spread across its surface.
"I can’t hold it—!" she screamed.
As soon as the words left her mouth, the barrier shattered with a boom.
Countless Sand Blades swallowed her in an instant.
Her screams lasted only a single breath.
When the sand mist dispersed, only a pile of shattered plant remains lay on the ground, along with a pool of green liquid seeping into the soil.
Duke walked out of the sand mist, a cluster of emerald-green light in his hand: Level 2 Life Essence.
He stowed the Life Essence away and turned his gaze to the other two.
The tall male’s eyes were full of fear and despair. He turned to run, only to find sand walls all around him, blocking every path.
The gaunt old man had already collapsed to the ground, his whole body trembling, unable to even hold his Magic Wand.
"Demon..." he murmured. "You’re a demon..."
Duke ignored him.
He raised his hand, and the sand flowed out...
