Chapter 120: Reaper Member
Chapter 120: Reaper Member
In the Soul Cross Sect...
A week later, the flames of war had been snuffed out, and the sect finally had peace again. Although several lives were lost, the sect had successfully defended themselves and proved their strength without their Sect Master.
In the Soul Peak, Elder Song had called a few individuals to her mansion so she could relay some information to them.
Ariana, Tamar, Sylvia, Fang, Fellin, Sera, Dera, Left, Right, and the new disciple—Ariadne.
The young lady had been allowed to join because of her relationship with Seraph, and the fact that she helped Ariana and Tamar to escape.
So, although she was formerly an Inferno Sect disciple, she was now a Soul Cross Sect disciple of the Soul Peak division.
Song walked into the room with calm steps, her arms folded behind her with a dignified aura.
"You’re all here, good," She said, scanning their faces.
They all had troubled expressions and dark circles under their eyes. It was the same with Song, but she no longer looked troubled. Instead, she had a faint smile on her face.
"Si—Elder, did you hear something about Seraph?" Sylvia asked quietly, almost slipping in her words.
Song nodded, causing their ears to perk up.
"Seraph is fine. He is currently with the Sect Master, roaming the outside world and trying to gain experience."
Several eyes widened, and Fang exclaimed. "The Sect Master? Isn’t he—?!"
Song shifted her gaze to him, her voice calm. "The Sect Master is still around, and he’s watching everything."
Ariana released a shaky breath, saying, "Are you sure? The last time I saw big brother was when he was fighting the Inferno Sect Master."
Song gave her a reassuring nod. "Seraph is fine. This is a confirmation coming from the Sect Master himself, alright?"
The silver-haired girl nodded, her expression brightening.
Song could sense the mood of the others improving, with sighs of relief escaping their lips.
"That’s all I have to tell you. You can go now."
Just as they began to rise, Sera lowered her head and asked. "Um... how long is Senior Brother Seraph going to stay with the Sect Master?"
"I don’t know that," Song shook her head. "But I know he’s in safe hands. No harm can come to him with the Sect Master protecting him."
"He’s safe? Protect him?" Sylvia murmured, feeling uneasy.
Song smiled confidently, "I’m sure he is doing fine."
.........
Far away, in a secret location where nobody knew about, two people were in a dojo room, sparring.
They both wore black robes and a goofy facemask, proving that they were from the same organization.
"Agent-YX, attack me with nothing but your body." The taller guy said, gesturing with his hands.
The shorter one nodded, then rushed at him, throwing a sharp kick towards his head.
Pa!
The taller masked man easily blocked the attack with his palm, then he tried pulling Agent-YX’s leg, but failed to.
The guy slipped away, then tried a sweeping kick. The taller guy jumped over without any stress, sending a kick towards Agent-YX’s head.
He leaned back and dodged, rolling over to grab the man’s leg before he could land.
However, a second kick came from above, slamming into the back of his head. He was smashed against the ground, and he groaned in pain.
"Harsh," He commented.
Shrugging, the taller guy grabbed him by the back of his neck and picked him up. Then, in smooth movements, he delivered two swift punches to Agent-YX’s stomach, causing blood to spurt out of his mouth.
Agent-YX crashed into the wall behind him, a grunt slipping from beneath his mask.
He landed on his feet, then rushed at the taller guy with renewed vigor. He threw sharp punches that were easily blocked, then mixed in kicking and knocking techniques.
"Keep going. Push harder," The taller guy said, seemingly encouraging him.
Suddenly, Agent-YX stepped back and began doing slow hops, bouncing from one foot to another.
As he hopped, his hands dangled by his side, seemingly useless at the moment.
That was until he flash-stepped towards the taller guy and his hand swung upward, knocking a punch into his torso.
The man remained unmoving, but he clearly felt the impact of the punch.
"Not bad," He said in a calm tone, then reached out to grab his shoulder.
However, Agent-YX was fast. He immediately retreated, even knocking the man’s hand away with a kick.
However, that was a mistake. Before he could retract his leg, the very same hand he had kicked earlier grabbed his ankle, lifted him into the air, then slammed him to the ground.
Unexpectedly, there was no loud sound, as the guy had cushioned his own fall with his hands.
Seeing this, the taller guy nodded, then lifted him again, slamming him to the other side.
Agent-YX repeated the motion of cushioning his fall several times, until he could no longer keep up with the speed and strain.
Bang!
He hit the ground heavily, the mask pressing into his face and breaking his nose.
"That would be enough for today." The taller guy said, dropping him to the ground. Then, he walked out of the training room.
Lying on the ground, Agent-YX panted heavily, then removed his mask.
His rainbow eyes appeared blank, but he was perfectly in his right senses.
’Halo, how much have I improved?’ He asked inwardly.
There was silence for a moment, then he heard a monotone voice in his head.
["Hm, let’s say by a bit. Your tolerance to pain has increased greatly, and your combat ability has increased only slightly."]
’Is that so? Well, not bad then.’ He shrugged.
["It is surprising that you haven’t been successfully brainwashed, and that you instead brainwashed them into believing that you were brainwashed. I must admit, Seraph. You’re a different kind of monster I created. I’m proud."]
Rolling his eyes, Seraph chuckled inwardly. ’A different environment surely feels exciting. Though, I still have a lot more to learn about the web of power of this organization.’
It had been over a week that he had been taken in as a member, and he had gone through the brainwashing process. Unfortunately, it didn’t work, since he had already endured things like that on Earth.
Therefore, he had to resort to making them believe he was successfully brainwashed.
At that moment, a familiar figure entered the dojo, her feminine curves straining against the black robes. Although Seraph had never seen her face, he could always distinguish her from the others.
"Agent-YX," She said curtly. "It’s time to return to your room."
Seraph nodded, then stood up. Putting on his mask again, he said to her.
"Agent-YN, have you trained here before?"
The masked lady nodded. "Manager-0Y ensures everyone under him undergoes this particular training until they can defeat Agent-HQ."
Seraph nodded in understanding, then frowned behind the mask. Agent-YN’s voice sounded oddly familiar, but he couldn’t connect the voice to anyone he knew.
As far as he knew, only the Soul Cross Sect Master was not brainwashed among the members of this organization.
’He even made it to being a Manager without anyone knowing. I should aim for that level too.’
Exhaling, he gave Agent-YN a nod, then walked out of the dojo.
As he returned to his room, he observed his surroundings properly. The walls were made of strangely smooth black metals that seemed to absorb light, giving the place a dark, grimly aura.
’As expected of a secret organization. Even their members don’t know where they are.’
Seraph hadn’t been taken on any mission before, but he knew that the members were always forced to wear coverings over their heads while being transported to a random location.
’This level of secrecy is stunning, but it’s what has made them hidden for so long. It’ll be exciting to slowly dismantle the organization.’
He was grinning widely, but the mask already obscured his expression, so no one could tell that he even had an expression on his face.
Opening the door to his room, he stepped inside. ’This place is pretty cramped, but it looks simple enough.’
There was only a simple mattress at a corner of the room, and nothing else. Suddenly, Seraph’s brows furrowed.
’This... looks like a prison on Earth. Hm, a weird taste for the Reapers.’
He took of the mask, kept his expression calm, then laid on the bed.
["You must be missing those brats, right? Ariana. I’m very fond of her, ah, such a cutie. She should have been the host instead of you."] Halo snickered, seemingly biting at Seraph.
Seraph scoffed inwardly. ’Unfortunately for you, she’s not from Earth. Wait a minute. Is Earth the only world you take your hosts from?’
Halo hummed, then answered, ["Well, unfortunately, yes. After all, Earth is the only primordial planet."]
Seraph was impressed, realizing that Earth was actually that special.
’Is that so? Looks like I should look into its specialty when I finally get a hold of Halo’s higher-ups.’
Hearing his thoughts, Halo scoffed. ["Brat, you’re still dreaming abou—"
Abruptly, the door swung open, and someone stepped inside.p
