Chapter 156 Statement
Chapter 156 Statement
No one knows a sister better than her brother. Xie Wenzhou frowned as he picked up the pinky ring that had fallen to the ground, noticing Xie Junfei's suddenly pale face.
"What's wrong? Is there something wrong with this thing?"
Huo Shen looked around. The four families of Huo, Xie, Chi, and Zhu were huddled together, their faces filled with worry. He lowered his head and whispered a reminder to Xie Junfei:
"Everyone here is family, do you want to say anything?"
Xie Junfei nodded reluctantly:
"They've already provoked us, what's there to tolerate? Just say it."
Half an hour later, a genetic testing report was placed on the conference room table. The yellowed paper was passed around among the attendees. Upon seeing the names of the father and mother on the English report, everyone frowned.
“Shenchangfeng, Yuwei”
Mrs. Huo slowly recalled these two familiar names:
"Shen Changfeng, Yu Wei..."
"I don't know Shen Changfeng, but I'm quite familiar with the name Yu Wei."
"Back then, Yu Wei was a well-known socialite in Shanghai, with many suitors and countless ways to woo her."
"Back when your father was pursuing me, all he knew was to give money; Yu Wei, on the other hand, had cruise ships and fireworks shows. I heard that a young master from a big family set off fireworks for her in Hong Kong for half a night on her birthday, burning more than ten million in one night."
"What was the young master's name again?"
Mom added in the comments:
"His surname is Shen, the same Shen from the Shen family of Jiangnan!"
Mrs. Huo made two "oh" sounds:
"Yes, only the Shen family of Jiangnan dares to spend money like that. But although it was expensive, that fireworks show was truly the envy of us young ladies waiting to be married."
"Back then, I was young and naive, and I even caused a scene for Old Huo."
Zhu Lili was a little curious:
"And then? Did Uncle Huo set off fireworks for you in Shanxi?"
Mrs. Huo covered her mouth and chuckled softly:
"How could that be? Even if he wanted to set them off, he couldn't. Environmental inspections were very strict back then, and fireworks were banned in Shanxi."
"So he set off two firecrackers on the hill behind them. One of them was broken; it didn't even light up and flew into the sky, but it actually blew right into his hand! The gunpowder covered both of us in coal dust, and I was so angry that I hit him!"
Sitting next to his mother in front of the younger generation, Huo Mingqian felt a little embarrassed and coughed slightly awkwardly.
Zhu Lili laughed heartily, and Xie Junfei also glanced at her usually upright, serious, and rigid father-in-law with some curiosity.
The atmosphere had been lively, but what Mrs. Huo said next silenced everyone again:
"However, fireworks are just things that disappear after a short time. Miss Yu disappeared not long after marrying into the Shen family in Jiangnan. I wonder how she is now."
She is dead.
Xie Junfei added in her mind for Huo's mother.
The beauty of fireworks is fleeting, just like Yu Wei's life. Not long after her marriage, Yu Wei and Shen Changfeng had a son, Xie Junfei.
Six months later, Shen Changfeng was driven to death by his own younger brother, Shen Huaishan. Yu Wei cut her wrists the day after her husband's suicide, at the young age of twenty-seven.
Holding the yellowed test report, Chi Xu frowned:
"But the child's name on this document is different from Xie Junfei's... Shen Shuyi... a very strange name."
Everyone present was shrewd, and upon seeing Xie Junfei's calm face, they all realized what was going on.
Xie Junfei:
"That's right, I am Shen Shuyi."
"Eighteen years ago, my father was forced to commit suicide by Shen Huaishan, the current head of the Shen family, due to a family struggle. My mother followed him. My grandfather, Shen Anguo, entrusted me to his comrade-in-arms Qin Zhanli, who was far away in Beijing, on his deathbed."
"Old Master Qin changed my name and made me a daughter of the Qin family."
"What happened next is well-known to everyone."
Everyone in the capital was extremely familiar with what was about to happen.
After Old Master Qin passed away, Xie Junfei lived a precarious life in the Qin family, feeling like every day was an eternity.
Later, Xie Wenzhou brought Xie Junfei home, where Xie Junfei met Huo Shen. The Qin family fell from power, and Xie Junfei took back the assets left to her by Shen Anguo.
Xie Junfei gently clenched her fist:
"If it weren't for Shen Huaishan, I should have grown up happily with loving parents, instead of enduring eighteen years of hardship in the Qin family."
“My suffering all stems from him, not to mention the irreconcilable hatred of killing one’s father, so I must take revenge.”
Just as Mrs. Huo was about to say something, Chi Jingchuan silently raised his hand, holding the envelope on the table:
"But it says 'To my daughter Shen Junfei' on it. Whoever calls you daughter, your uncle might still be around."
Huo Shen glanced at him and said coldly:
“Shen Changfeng could not possibly still be alive. His remains were thrown into international waters by Shen Huaishan back then, which can be described as being reduced to ashes.”
“Shen Huaishan hates him the most, so much so that he wouldn’t even leave him a complete corpse. Do you think he would let Shen Changfeng live?”
Chi Jingchuan nodded and put the envelope back:
"Then I'm fine."
Robert's voice came through the speakers:
"Daddy, although I didn't find Shen Huaishan in the surveillance footage, based on the side profile of the camera in the blind spot, the person sitting in the luxury car parked in front of Lishui Tower was his secretary!"
"Do you need me to locate his car?"
Everyone was startled. Miss Chi raised an eyebrow:
"What the hell is this?"
Robert:
"I'm not a thing, I'm Mommy's AI baby."
Xie Wenzhou stepped over Huo Shen and gave Robert instructions:
"Keep investigating. I'll have Shen An give you the highest level of access right now. Make sure you dig up Shen Huaishan's ancestors for eight generations."
Upon hearing this, Xie Junfei was taken aback.
"Highest authority" means that, apart from the most critical encrypted files, Robert is omnipresent on the internet.
Robert cheered and immediately agreed to go and check on the person.
Xie Junfei looked up and met Xie Wenzhou's gaze, her expression complex.
Xie Wenzhou ruffled the little girl's fluffy head:
"What are you looking at? I'm your brother. If I don't help you, who will?"
"I told you, whatever you want to do, your brother will help you."
Although it was expected, Xie Wenzhou's promise was undoubtedly a shot in the arm and became a strong support in Xie Junfei's heart.
Huo's mother also walked to her side and gently put her arm around Xie Junfei's shoulder:
"Don't worry, baby, you are now my Huo family's daughter-in-law, which means you are a member of my Huo family. We Huo family members will never be bullied!"
Seeing that her mother-in-law had already expressed her opinion, Zhu's mother, as the godmother, followed suit:
"Junfei, Mom doesn't need to say anything more. If you need money, ask your dad; if you need to smooth things over, ask your uncle. I've always treated you like my own daughter, and I will never let you get hurt!"
Miss Chi nodded to her as well:
"Xie Junfei, I like you, and I will help you."
Uncle Chi also had a kind smile:
"Xiao Xie has helped us a lot, and we have no way to repay you. Fortunately, our elders have some connections and can lend you a hand."
Seeing that everyone had expressed their opinions, Xie Junfei's eyes slowly reddened.
She sniffed softly:
"Thank you, thank you."
