Chapter 296 Fried Noodles
Chapter 296 Fried Noodles
That delightful and satisfying late-night snack finally came to an end. I slowly stood up, stretched, and walked lightly to the bathroom. I turned on the shower, and the warm water flowed over my skin like a silky caress, washing away the day's fatigue and dust.
After showering, I gently dried myself with a soft towel and sat down at the dressing table. From the drawer, I pulled a delicate face mask, carefully unwrapped it, and gently applied the thin sheet to my face. Feeling the cool, moisturizing effect of the mask, my body and mind gradually relaxed.
Lying in my comfortable bed, I closed my eyes and began to dream of tomorrow's journey to the mountains. Perhaps that mountain would be filled with lush forests, crystal-clear streams, and refreshing air. Thinking of this, a slight smile rose from my lips, and with anticipation for tomorrow's wonderful journey, I gradually fell into a sweet dream.
"Hmm..." With a sigh of satisfaction, I slowly awoke, feeling a sense of complete relaxation, as if every cell in my body had been adequately rested and nourished. "What a wonderful sleep!" I thought to myself. After all, this morning, it wasn't the annoying alarm clock that woke me from my sweet dreams. Instead, I opened my eyes naturally, welcoming the arrival of a new day.
Thinking back to life in the interstellar nursery, it's definitely less stressful than my time on Blue Star. Back there, I had to wake up early every day and rush through various tasks. Here, while I still have to arrive at work promptly at 8 a.m., it's much easier. Especially on weekends, I can enjoy the comfort of sleeping in until I wake up naturally.
After a lazy stretch, I instinctively glanced at the bedside clock. It steadily read 9:05. "Oh no! It's getting late!" I quickly jumped out of bed and quickly finished washing up. Then I went into the kitchen and expertly cooked my favorite braised rice noodles. Before long, a bowl of steaming, fragrant noodles appeared before me. I didn't care if it was hot, so I devoured it with hearty mouthfuls, devouring it in no time.
After filling my stomach, I stretched my body and began to prepare the hearty lunch I needed to go up the mountain. Although it was already November, Ceres was a unique place. Even at this time of year, the temperature at noon was still unbearable.
After much deliberation, I finally decided to make shrimp Vietnamese spring rolls and delicious fried noodles as a fuel for this hiking trip. So, I walked into the kitchen with great enthusiasm, began to carefully select various fresh ingredients, and meticulously designed the perfect combination between them, striving to make every bite bring the ultimate taste bud enjoyment.
The first thing I had to make was the fragrant fried noodles! I carefully poured water into the pot, lit the stove, and waited for the water to boil. Soon, a cheerful gurgling sound filled the pot, and tiny bubbles appeared on the surface. Then, I quickly picked up a spoonful of pure white salt and gently stirred it, watching the salt gradually dissolve in the water. Next, I slowly dropped a handful of evenly thick noodles into the pot, stirring quickly with my chopsticks to prevent them from sticking. The noodles tumbled and danced in the boiling water. After about two minutes, they were cooked to about half doneness, a tempting pale yellow.
Now comes the crucial step! Quickly, I remove the cooked noodles and quickly place them in a basin of cold water. With a sizzling sound, the heat dissipates, and the noodles become even more smooth and chewy. Once the noodles have completely cooled, I remove them again and drain them. Then, I add a little fragrant cooking oil and a generous amount of rich dark soy sauce. Gently stir to combine, preventing the noodles from sticking and giving them a beautiful caramelized appearance that's truly mouth-watering!
Pour a small amount of clear cooking oil into the pan. Once the oil is slightly heated, gently crack the plump egg into the pan. With a sizzling sound, the egg instantly solidifies into a golden omelet. Quickly stir with a spatula, frying until it's cooked and fluffed, until it develops an alluring golden hue. Then carefully transfer the egg to a bowl and set aside.
Next, add a little more oil to the wok. This time, add the carefully prepared garnishes: slender cabbage, vibrant carrots, and fragrant onions. These vibrant garnishes create a vibrant and eye-catching stir-fried noodle dish. However, for personal reasons, I simply can't stand the taste of carrots, so I've decided to omit them.
As the side dishes are added to the pot, a crackling sound is heard. Holding the spatula, the side dishes are constantly tossed up and down, allowing them to be thoroughly heated, gradually softening from their rawness. Once they are cooked through and emit a charming aroma, it is time for the next crucial step: pouring the pre-prepared noodles into the pot.
The noodles, like nimble silver snakes, slip into the pot and intertwine with the garnishes. Grab the wok handle with both hands and shake it vigorously back and forth to evenly mix the noodles and garnishes. Next, add a spoonful of pure, snow-white salt, adding a subtle salty aroma. A sprinkle of chicken essence, enhancing the flavor, seems to breathe life into the dish. A fine pinch of pepper adds a touch of spiciness. Finally, a generous drizzle of light soy sauce coats the dish in a deep brown, heightening its overall umami flavor.
Turning the heat to maximum, he danced with his hands, wielding the spatula, and began to stir-fry at lightning speed. With a fierce "clattering" sound, the various seasonings and ingredients blended and penetrated each other, and the rich aroma emanated continuously, filling the entire kitchen space.
In a short while, the deliciously flavorful fried noodles are ready. After turning off the heat, I place them in a pre-prepared food container. Looking at the box full of my hard work fills my heart with a sense of accomplishment.
All the cooking work was carried out in an orderly manner. After a busy period, my backpack was filled with all kinds of delicious and nutritious food.
I glanced up, my gaze fixed on the ancient, solemn clock on the wall. The hour hand had quietly struck ten-twenty, drawing ever closer to the time Lillian and I had agreed to meet at the foot of the mountain. Thinking of this, I couldn't help but quicken my movements, quickly adjusting the straps of my backpack and slinging the heavy bag across my shoulders. Then, hurriedly, I left the house and strode towards the distant peaks.
